Stone-ground mandwa (ragi or finger millet) flour is a staple of the mountain diet and is among the most nutritious superfoods in the planet. The highlight of the flour that we are bringing to you is that the flour is ground in traditional water-powered stone flour mills, called gharat locally. Flour ground in these traditional mills are prized for retaining all the nutritious goodness of grains because these mills slowly grind the grain without heating them due to friction. The flour is gently ground over two or three days. (Watch a video of a traditional flour mill in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8ALerv1UX8)

Nutritionally, this flour has a high content of calcium (0.38%), dietary fiber (18%) and phenolic compounds (0.3–3%). It is also recognized for health beneficial effects, such as anti-diabetic, anti-tumerogenic, atherosclerogenic effects, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. This flour is 100% gluten-free.

This flour can be used to make porridge, mudde (boiled flour) and rotis. You can also mix 30-50% wheat flour and make multigrain rotis.

Mandwa/ragi/finger millet in the upper Tons Valley, Uttarakhand:

It is one of the staple food crops in our valley. Almost all farmers sow mandwa as it is the main source of carbohydrates in our local cuisine. The flour of the mandwa is used to make rotis and porridge. Farmers who have mandwa which is surplus to their annual food and seed purpose, sell to earn money. We are supporting these hard working farmers by finding a fair market for their mandwa and adding value to it by processing it to flour in local traditional flour mills. We pay a fair price that compensates them for growing mandwa in remote fields which don't even have access to a road. The harvest has to be brought on mules to the nearest road and then transported for milling and then packed in our processing center.

Our mandwa is completely organic, grown using only natural compost and cow manure. No inorganic fertilizer or chemical pesticides are used. We are in the process of helping these farmers getting their produce certified organic very soon.

We are not a big e-commerce company focused on providing you instant gratification. We are trying to do things in our own way and are trying to work on things like technology, supply chain, customer service etc, from a very logistically challenged location. However, when it comes to products, we assure you nothing but the best.

Here are some important questions answered for you about how we ship our products:

How long does it take for me to get my products?

We have a fixed shipping schedule for orders. Monday is our designated shipping day. Every week, all orders made till Saturday 3 pm IST are processed for shipping on the following Monday.

Why does it take so long?

We process our orders in weekly batches. Our warehouse is in a very distant location. There is no way for us to ship small packets individually. We must process our orders in batches that can travel together in one vehicle to reduce the transportation cost from our warehouse to the shipping hub in Dehradun. We always send an email to confirm order dispatch on Saturday night.

How can I track my shipment?

Details will be emailed, please keep a track of your email.

How do you compensate in case of a lost or damaged shipment?
