Description
Multifloral Raw Unfiltered & Unpasteurised Wild Honey is a rare delicacy from our region. This honey has been sourced from the forests of the lower Tons Valley.
The highlight of the honey from our region is that it is 100% organic as bees here are completely wild. Villagers setup small wooden boxes in their homes and fields which are in forests and fruit orchards, where wild honeybees come to make their hives. The honeybees here collect nectar from a mind-boggling variety of flowering plants and trees. Each batch of honey has its own character based on the foliage that is growing around where the hive has been setup. Villagers typically harvest honey twice a year.
IMPORTANT: This honey is raw, unfiltered & unpasteurised. You will find that it has particles of beeswax and some particles of the actual hive. This is perfectly normal and safe to consume.
Honey in the Tons Valley, Uttarakhand:
Honey used to be the primary source of sugar in our mountains before commercial sugar became available. In the days gone past, it was impossible to haul sacks of sugar to remote villages, so villagers used to make their own honey. Honey is today used as a treat for children in the family and a delicacy during festivals when it is had with rotis. Whenever there is a little surplus honey at home, villagers sell it to add to the meagre family income. The honey that is extracted here is raw, unfiltered and unpasteurised, thus retaining all of its natural goodness. It is personally checked by us for freshness and then procured by our team so that we bring you the finest quality.
