Over a hundred years ago, the first Delicious apple trees were planted in the hills of Himachal. From those trees came Royal Delicious, the variety that built the Himalayan apple trade and became the apple every Indian childhood remembers. This is not a new hybrid or an imported novelty. This is the original.
Royal is a true high-altitude apple. The tree demands around 1,400 hours of winter chill to fruit properly, which means it simply cannot be grown in warm, low country. Every Royal apple is proof of a real mountain winter.

What Royal Red Delicious Tastes & Looks Like
Mildly sweet with barely a whisper of tartness, generously juicy, and crunchy when freshly harvested. The skin is thin and tender, deep crimson with the classic streaks and stripes that mark a true Royal, and the flesh is pale, fleshy and clean-tasting. Royal is the gentle classic: the taste of an apple exactly as you remember it.
Most Royal Delicious sold in India spends months in controlled atmosphere storage before reaching a shelf. Because Royal is thin-skinned and delicate, it suffers more in storage than most varieties: the famous crunch fades and the flesh turns mealy. A Royal eaten within days of picking is a different fruit altogether, and that is the fruit we ship.
