Baby Apple Pickle is a surprise special from us!
Our mountains come alive with apple blossoms in late spring and when the flowers are pollinated, baby apples are born!
Not all baby apples though grow to become big juicy apples. Unfortunately, baby apples have to be culled in a process known as ‘thinning’ so that tree branches don’t get overloaded with fruit. Thinning allows all apples on a branch to get equal nutrition so that they all develop to the largest size possible – thus earning the farmer more money.
Baby apples that are culled are simply thrown away. We heard of some farmers making a sour and tart pickle out of these discarded baby apples. When we tasted the pickle, we loved it and immediately organised a collection of baby apples to make this pickle for you!
Please note, this is a sour and tart pickle, only buy if you are fan of that taste!
